Imphal, Jun 24, : :\u00a0The Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Government of Manipur, held a one-day workshop on \u201cApplication of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Journalism and Media Fact-Checking\u201d at the DIPR Auditorium, Imphal, on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Chief Guest Hungyo Worshang said journalism\u2019s core remains gathering and sharing accurate information responsibly. With the rise of social media, he noted, news consumption has changed rapidly, making AI increasingly relevant. While AI may seem like a competitor, he said it should be seen as a tool to support and strengthen journalism. He stressed that AI-generated content must be critically analyzed and fact-checked before publication, with the responsibility for accuracy resting on journalists.<\/p>\n

Keynote speaker Director, IPR, Dr. Th. Charanjeet Singh said the workshop aimed to update journalists and government officials on AI applications in the media. He flagged concerns over deepfakes and AI-generated misinformation, urging vigilance to protect credibility. He added that AI is already being used by many media organisations to assist in reporting, content curation, and automating routine tasks, improving efficiency.<\/p>\n

3. Dr. Angom Buboo Singh, Academic Head, NEILIT<\/p>\n
