Imphal, Manipur : : Monday, 21 July : : As part of the build-up to the Imphal Chapter of the 135th IndianOil Durand Cup, a Women\u2019s Exhibition Football Match between Kangla Warriors and Sangai Strikers was organised at the SAI Ground, Imphal.<\/p>\n

The event was graced by Shri Govindas Konthoujam, Hon\u2019ble Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of Manipur, as the Chief Guest. He was joined by Maj Gen Shubhankar Basu, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding, Red Shield Division, and other civil and military dignitaries.<\/p>\n

Serving as the curtain raiser to the Imphal Chapter, the event celebrated Manipur\u2019s rich footballing legacy and honoured legendary women footballers of the state. On the occasion, 20 students from Super 50, Bishnupur,<\/p>\n

supported by the Indian Army in collaboration with the National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO) and the State Bank of India (SBI), were felicitated for their outstanding performance in the NEET and JEE examinations.<\/p>\n

The programme featured a Pipe Band display, the Durand Cup anthem, and vibrant cultural performances. The Hon\u2019ble Minister interacted with players of both teams before ceremonially kicking off the match.<\/p>\n

After an enthralling contest that ended 0\u20130 in regulation time, Kangla Warriors emerged victorious 3\u20132 in the penalty shootout, delighting the crowd at SAI Ground. The iconic trophies of the 135th IndianOil Durand Cup were also showcased to spectators.<\/p>\n

During the prize distribution ceremony:<\/p>\n

\u2013 Kangla Warriors received the Winning Shield, medals and a cash prize of Rs.50,000<\/p>\n

\u2013 Sangai Strikers received the Runner-up Trophy, medals and a cash prize of Rs.40,000<\/p>\n

The event served as a fitting curtain raiser to the Imphal Chapter, celebrating excellence in both sports and academics while reinforcing the spirit of Asia\u2019s oldest football tournament.<\/p>\n
