MOA Celebrates International Olympic Day with ‘Run for Unity’ and 2,036 Tree Plantation Drive By Sunil Elangbam, President, Manipur Olympic Association….

Imphal, June 23, : : The people of the hills and valley of Manipur cannot be separated, because the true sense of belongingness and unity remains in the hearts of original Manipuris.

In that spirit, the Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) organised the International Olympic DWSway celebration on June 23 across the state, marking the occasion with sportsmanship, unity, and environmental action.

As part of the celebrations, MOA carried out the plantation of 2,036 trees for a greener future and conducted a 3 km “Run for Unity.” The run began at the courtyard of Olympic Bhavan, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal, and proceeded through Dingko Road, Chingmeirong Khongnang Karak, North AOC, and MMTA, before concluding at the same starting point via the southern gate of the complex.

On behalf of MOA, I express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to all participants. This includes Hon’ble Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Hon’ble YAS Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Hon’ble Advisor of MOA Dr. Th. Radheshyam Singh, Hon’ble President of Manipur Basketball Association MLA Nishikant Sapam, Olympians, sports awardees,

international achievers, national medallists, clubs, state-level sports associations, government officials, retired IAS and government officers, Vice Chancellor and Registrar of NSU Manipur, NSU staff and students, Principal and staff of NSA Khuman Lampak, Regional Director and officials of SAI NERC Imphal, RCC of YAS, Director and officials of YAS, security personnel, medical teams, DFO Central Forest Mantripukhri, Chief Conservator and officials of the Forest Department, film stars of the state,

President of AMWJU, press and media personnel, photographers, Presidents and Secretaries of District Olympic Associations, Presidents and Secretaries of MOA units, and the Equestrian team with approximately 30 pony riders under the command of my good friend N. Ibungochoubi.

I also thank participants of district Olympic programmes, my senior colleagues and friends in MOA who volunteered wholeheartedly, my office team, and all friends whom I may have unintentionally missed mentioning in today’s historic event.

I am proud to be a true Manipuri. MOA, as the apex sports organisation of our small state recognised as a sports powerhouse of the nation, successfully celebrated International Olympic Day on June 23 at the main venue, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, as well as across district Olympic associations, clubs, and institutions. The event saw approximately 2,500 participants across more than 20 locations.
